Lurlene Ellen Holloway

Lurlene Ellen Holloway, 95, died Thursday at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. She was born at the family home in Lebanon, Ore., the daughter of Vernon Lottus and Emma (Swatzka) Arnold. Her grandparents, Henry and Mariam (Rodgers) Arnold of Lebanon and Gerhard and Katherine Swatzka of Tangent, were Linn County pioneers. Her great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Rodgers, were early Scio settlers.

Lurlene attended schools in Lebanon, Shedd and Albany, graduating from Albany High School in 1930. She attended Northwest Business College in Portland. Beginning in the early 1930's she worked a number of years in several departments at the Linn County Court House, (both the old and new buildings).

Lurlene married Royce Charles Holloway on Dec. 6, 1937, in Lebanon. Mr. Holloway preceded her in death on April 11, 1995.

Lurlene enjoyed her rose garden, baking, vacationing on the Oregon Coast while her husband fished, traveling, and her many friends. She was a member of Shedd Priscilla Club, Chi Sigma, Linn County Farm Bureau, Riverside Garden Club, Albany United Presbyterian Church, and former member of Whitespires Presbyterian Church.

She moved to Moses Lake in June 2006 to be near her daughter.

Lurlene is survived by her son, Arnold Royce Holloway and his wife, Lois, of Hillsboro, daughter, Shawlene Ellen Martin and her husband, Melvin, of Moses Lake, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at the Albany United Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 5. Private interment will be at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany.
