Rally keeps Moses Lake baseball undefeated

PASCO — The Moses Lake Chiefs thumped the Pasco Bulldogs 13-2 in the first game of a Columbia Basin League baseball doubleheader, then scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to win the second game 5-2 Friday.

With the wins, Moses Lake improved to 6-0 on the season.

Pasco struck first in game two with a run in the bottom of the first off Moses Lake starting pitcher Corey Hitchcock, but the Chief senior settled in from that point to hold Pasco to just two runs in six innings of work.

Moses Lake took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the third inning, but Pasco tied the game with a run of their own in the fifth.

In the first extra frame, Moses Lake's Tyler Sage drove in the game winning run, part of the Chiefs' three-run eighth inning.

Brock Lybbert came on in relief of Hitchcock in the seventh inning and picked up the win for Moses Lake.

Aaron Morice went 4 for 5 in the second game with an RBI, a double and a triple. Hitchcock was 2 for 4 from the plate in addition to his pitching duties.

The first game was a much easier go for the Chiefs, as they scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the third to quickly take command of the contest.

Troy Stephens went the distance on the mound to earn the victory, and was also 2 for 4 with a double offensively. Blaine Myers had a great game at the plate for the Chiefs, going 3 for 4 with a triple and four RBIs. Matt Valdez went 2 for 3 and also drove in two runs for Moses Lake.
