Harold D. Seifert

Harold D. Seifert, age 86, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 5, 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Seifert of Spokane; two children, Roxy Ireland and husband Barry of Sandpoint, Idaho, Bill Seifert and wife Virginia of Spokane; four grandchildren, Kayla Ireland, Shannon Ireland, Nick Rash, Jackie Johnston; three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Eric, Morgan; brother, Edward Seifert of Polson, Mont.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as six sisters and five brothers.

Mr. Seifert was born March 4, 1920 on the farm in Pablo, Mont., and grew up there. He entered the U.S. Army March 4, 1941 and served with the 161st Infantry, 25th Division in the South Pacific, including Guadal Canal and New Georgia, where he was wounded. He was sent back to the states and discharged in 1944. After WWII Mr. Seifert ranched and worked in a saw mill in Montana, later serving as a police officer in Polson, Mont., for two years. He moved to Washington in 1967 and worked for Pilot Wheel Ranch in Tonasket, George, and Wilson Creek for many years. He retired in Moses Lake in 1982 and moved to Spokane in 1997. Mr. Seifert was a 4H leader for many years both in Montana and Washington. He was a life member of the DAV and of the VFW Post 2986 in Polson, Mont. He was former Post Commander of VFW Post 5926 in Moses Lake.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. in the Alwin Chapel at Hazen Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 North Monroe Street in Spokane. Inurnment will be at a later date in Polson, Mont.
