Amelia Prichard
Amelia Ann Prichard, 88, died July 7, 2006, at Providence Alaska Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Family wrote that she "passed into the hands of the lord."
A graveside service was held in Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Prichard was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Danvers, Mont., to Anton and Anna (Tucek) Slivka. She married Austin Prichard Jr. in 1937 in Lewiston, Mont. She moved to Moses Lake, where she lived with her family for many years. She and her husband, Harry, established a small community near Moses Lake called West Lake, where she served as mayor.
Mrs. Prichard worked with her sons in the construction business in Washington and Alaska. She had lived here for 36 years.
She was a member of the Moose for 50 years in Moses Lake, earning the highest degrees within the Moose, one of which was regent.
Family wrote, "Amelia was an avid dancer who loved her independence. She loved the outdoors, doing a lot of hunting and fishing in Alaska. She enjoyed traveling, usually by motorhome or vehicle because of her love of seeing this great world. She traveled to Czech Republic to see her parents' homeland and visit relatives."
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Walter Slivka; and sister, Marie Kaufman.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Margie Prichard of Anchorage, James and Janice Prichard of Fernley, Nev., and Harry "Bing" Austin Prichard III and his wife, Sherry Dale of Anchorage; sister Ann McCullough of Great Falls, Mont.; grandchildren Michelle Prichard Palmer and her husband, Tim of Spanaway, Nicole Prichard Wheeler and her husband, Zack of Englewood, Fla., Tony Prichard and his wife, Shirley of Bellingham, and Dean Prichard of Los Alamos, N.M.; great-granddaughters, Crystal Andrews, Jessica Andrews, Faith Wheeler, Ella Prichard; and great-grandsons Jacob Palmer and Andrew Wheeler.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Disease Resource Agency of Alaska, 1750 Abbott Road, Anchorage, AK 99507.
