Ephrata man shot

| September 7, 2006 9:00 PM

EPHRATA — A 40-year-old Ephrata remains in intensive care in a Seattle hospital today, following a shooting at a home on Cottage Avenue Wednesday.

Eugene F. Willmorth was taken to Columbia Basin Hospital and later flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with an unknown number of gunshot wounds, said Sgt. Dan Bohnet, with the Ephrata Police Department.

Willmorth was conscious and speaking when he was later found, Bohnet said. Police believe he was shot around 2:43 p.m.

Police do not have witnesses, Bohnet said, but neighbors did report hearing one gun shot.

Because police are continuing to investigate the incident, Bohnet would not say if Willmorth knew the shooter, what type of gun was used, or what led up to the incident.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
