Investment group purchases 33-acre retail site
'Major anchors' express interest in new center
MOSES LAKE — Broadway Holdings, LLC, comprised of several principals of the Moses Pointe investment group, purchased a 33-acre commercial development site on West Broadway.
The group plans to move forward with the development of a retail shopping center originally approved by the City of Moses Lake Planning Commission in 2002.
The project will be known as "Crosswater Landing" and is expected to include many well-known national retailers as well as other businesses and services, according to a press release.
"The name was selected because it seems like you must cross water to get to it from most directions," said Moses Lake real estate agent Ralph Kincaid, who has been working on the project for more than four years. "And besides that it's a nice name and is unique."
"We are talking with several major anchors including major grocers who have expressed interest in this site," Kirk Moisan, project general manager for Robinson Construction Company, stated in the release. "The Moses Pointe development plans plus all the other planned development on the peninsula and the west side of Moses Lake makes this the natural next major retail area of Moses Lake."
Kincaid said there was overwhelming public support for grocery shopping in the western end of town at the 2002 planning commission meeting, and the property was held in reserve for years for use as a retail power center.
"Shopping is something missing right now," Kincaid said. He added that the planning commission is very happy, as it desired this kind of development, as opposed to seeing the property developed "haphazardly" into 20 or 30 little pieces. Kincaid added that it will go "a long ways to improve the interest of our town, a nice looking development instead of a field full of weeds."
The development of the retail site is an important component in the group's expansion plans for the Moses Pointe project, according to a press release.
"With our Moses Pointe expansion plans and other subdivisions already on the drawing board, there are over 3,000 residences planned for the west side of Moses Lake," said original Moses Pointe developer Jim Tallman in the release. "There is an unsatisfied existing demand for grocery shopping in this area and further development by Moses Pointe and others will drive the need for all types of quality shopping."
Kincaid said the Lep-Re-Kon Harvest Foods store, expected to begin construction in October, is not connected to this project.
Moses Point Holdings Group will be announcing their expansion plans for the Moses Pointe project in the next few weeks.
