Invaders arrested
Pair allegedly entered home, scaring girl
MOSES LAKE — Two men who allegedly frightened a 12-year-old Cascade Valley girl during a home invasion Tuesday were arrested during a traffic stop yesterday in Moses Lake.
After an intensive investigative effort, using an anonymous citizen's tip, information from a previous apprehension by the Washington State Patrol and diligent research by a Grant County deputy, officers apprehended the suspects during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon.
Octavio Manuel Rangel, 20, Moses Lake, and Lynsey A. Kerr, 18, Othello, were reportedly found driving together in a 2003 white Dodge Neon, the vehicles suspected to have been used during a home invasion on Rainier Road, just west of Moses Lake. A sheriff's deputy recognized the suspect vehicle and its occupants as it turned from Broadway Extended onto Highway 17. The deputy, the Grant County Sheriff's Office traffic unit and Moses Lake Police conducted a felony vehicle stop in the Moses Lake Wal-Mart parking lot.
Rangel and Kerr allegedly complied with law enforcement and were taken into custody without incident, according to the sheriff's office.
Rangel was booked into Grant County Jail for first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, two counts of assault in the second degree, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and theft in the first degree.
Kerr was booked into Grant County Jail for first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and first-degree theft.
A third suspect is still at large and described as a thin blond Caucasian woman, who drove the car away from the robbery.
The suspects had entered the home brandishing a gun, frightening a 12 year-old girl, and stealing television sets, DVD player, CDs and cash, according to the sheriff's office. The girl was not injured.
