Broken headlight leads to arrest

Suspect found possessing weapons and police scanner

MOSES LAKE — A defective headlight led to the arrest of an alledged Wenatchee gang member in Moses Lake Monday morning.

Jose Cruz Quintana, 23, was reportedly pulled over by a Moses Lake Police officer for a defective headlight on Melva Lane when he fled from police on foot. Quintana reportedly jumped a fence where he cut his hand and continued to flee to a room at Oasis Motel, the Moses Lake Police Department reported.

Police obtained three search warrants issued to search two motel rooms and Quintana's vehicle. The warrants allegedly led police to finding drug paraphernalia, ammunition, .22 caliber revolver, SKS rifle, handheld police scanner and bloody clothing. Both firearms were loaded, police reported.

Quintana reportedly admitted having gang membership with the South Side Locotes.

He was arrested for two counts of possession of firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, driving with a suspended license in the third degree and driving a vehicle with a defective headlight. He was also arrested for warrants concerning identification theft, assault in the second degree and burglary.

Police reported Quintana is allegedly listed as an armed career criminal by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
