William Phillip Sporcich

| October 19, 2006 9:00 PM

William (Bill) Phillip Sporcich, age 87, died peacefully on Oct. 13, 2006.

He was born on April 30, 1919 in Crested Butte, Colo., to Andrew and Veronica Sporcich. He grew up the third of four children in the coal mining town of Ronald, during the Great Depression. After high school, Bill took what ever work he could find in the mines, finally enlisting in the Army two months before Pearl Harbor. He spent four years in the service, participating in the D-Day invasion and the long march to Germany. After the war he met and married Ann Schwab of Rosyln, they would have been married 60 years next month.

In 1957 they moved to Moses Lake, when Bill took a job with the local TV cable company. He worked for the cable company until his retirement. Bill and Ann were active members of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Bill was a great basketball player in high school, an avid reader, and enjoyed hunting when he was younger and working with his hands. He continually made craft projects but his greatest joy was his family and his visits to his home town of Ronald.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ann of Moses Lake, his brother Andrew of Ellensburg, his sister Rose of Kirkland, his three sons, Bill Sporcich (Linda), Brad Sporcich (Dianna), Bob Sporcich (Patty) and his grandchildren Debbie Sporcich, Deanna Colston, Ryan Sporcich and Andrew Sporcich. Bill had two great grandchildren Morgan and Matthew Colston. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Helen.

Bill will be greatly missed by his family, his big voice and laugh are gone, but we have his memory. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Moses Lake Catholic Church.

Remembrances may be made to the Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.

Our family wishes to thank all the staff at the Summerwood Assisted Living Home for their love, compassion and endless patience in the care of our Father.
