Vision 2020 discusses upcoming events
Several events set for October and November
MOSES LAKE — Vision 2020 met Tuesday to discuss updates and upcoming events for Moses Lake.
The downtown project is nearing completion. Half of downtown Third Avenue is paved and sidewalks for that half are installed, Moses Lake Business Association Executive Director Sally Goodwin said. The final half, near the Ash Street intersection will be paved the week of Oct. 30. Curbing is nearly complete too.
Several businesses in the downtown Moses Lake area are participating in the Halloween trick-or-treat function Oct. 31. Businesses are handing out candy to trick-or-treaters from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Goodwin noted. The businesses are participating in the event to ensure a safe place for youth to trick-or-treat.
Make A Difference Day is Oct. 28. It encompasses a fall clean up, Goodwin noted. The clean up begins at 9 a.m. in McCosh Park. Participants just need to show up to receive a clean up route and a garbage bag.
A Holiday Open House takes place Nov. 16 through Nov. 18. The open house is in celebration for the end of the downtown construction. There will also be a tree lighting ceremony Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in the downtown area as part of the reopening of Third Avenue.
The Vision 2020 Communications Committee is still looking for a chairperson. Goodwin reported radio and print advertisements are running well despite the empty position.
The next meeting is Nov. 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce.
