Dorothy Julienne (Souder) Glass was born January 21, 1922, in Elm Creek, Neb., the daughter of Samuel Francis (Mike) Souder and Anna Mae (Lunsford) Souder. When Dorothy was just one year old, her family moved from Nebraska to Bedford, Iowa, so they could be near many of the other Souder family members. Dorothy grew up in the Bedford area attending school and graduating from the Bedford High School. During her school years, Dorothy was very active in 4-H. After high school, Dorothy taught in area rural schools. In May of 1942 she was united in marriage to Ray Vernon Glass in Maryville, Mo. To this loving union two children were born - a son Ron and a daughter Jeannie. After their marriage, Dorothy and Ray lived in Moses Lake, where they did custom farming. The couple moved back to Bedford in 1984 when they retired.

Dorothy loved to visit with family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford and was also a member of several area clubs. She enjoyed flowers, sewing and doing arts and crafts. When she was no longer able to live at home, Dorothy moved to the Bedford Nursing & Rehab Center where she enjoyed many of their activities, especially bingo.

Left to cherish Dorothy's memory are her son Ron Glass and wife Paula of Bedford; a daughter Jeannie Moore of Salinas, Calif.; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding Dorothy in death are her parents Samuel Francis and Anna Mae Souder; her husband Ray Glass in 1990; a granddaughter Lori Ann Moore; and an infant great-granddaughter, Erica Brill.

May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn Dorothy's passing.
