Junior rodeo contestants bring home awards

OKANOGAN — The Washington State Junior Rodeo Finals were held Sept. 30 in Okanogan.

The event was sponsored by The Caribou Trail Junior Rodeo Association. Over 100 contestants from all over Washington state competed. In all, nine All-Around Saddles were given away to the high point cowboys and cowgirls in each age division.

Caleb McMillan of Soap Lake walked away with the Pee Wee Boys All-Around Saddle after placing first in calf riding, goat tying, stake race, second in dummy roping, third in barrels, and second in pole bending.

His sisters Riley McMillan and Hanna McMillan took fourth in Pee Wee Girls pole bending and fourth in Little People goat tail tying and pole bending respectively.

Dakota Beck of Moses Lake also earned a saddle for the Intermediate Boys All-Around after winning the bull riding and breakaway roping, placing second in bareback riding and third in the chute doggin'. His sister, Keicia Beck, placed third in Intermediate Girls cow riding and younger brother, Dylan Beck, took fourth in the goat tail tying.

Tami and DL Deines, a brother and sister pair from Soap Lake, each took home a piece of the action. Tami took fifth in Intermediate Girls goat tying and DL won third in the Senior Boys chute doggin'.

Hannah Jo Call of Wilson Creek won the Intermediate Girls cow riding, placed second in goat tying and third in the Intermediate Girls All-Around.

Kelsie Campbell, also of Wilson Creek, finished fifth in goat tying.
