Argument ends with shooting

MOSES LAKE — An argument in a front yard on Sunny Drive in Moses Lake ended with Michael C. Reyes, 28, Moses Lake, being killed early Saturday morning.

Moses Lake Police Capt. Jim Jenkins said Reyes was in an argument with Eplanito Rocha, 40, Moses Lake, when Rocha reportedly pulled a small caliber handgun and shot Reyes in the upper chest once, killing him.

Rocha was reportedly arrested at the scene without incident by police at roughly 2 a.m. and an investigation is underway, said Jenkins. A motive for the shooting remains unknown.

"All we know is they were involved in a short argument before the shooting," said Jenkins.

Rocha was booked into the Grant County Jail for murder and is scheduled to appear in court today.

Jenkins said the Moses Lake Police is asking anyone with information to call Sgt. Dave Sands or Det. Juan Loera at 509-766-9230.
