Car prowler confesses to several burglaries

MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man was arrested after a victim caught him stealing, Moses Lake Police said.

Chance L. Ulman, 20, was reportedly confronted by a victim in the Fairchild Cinema parking lot Saturday night, police said. The victim allegedly saw Ulman standing next to his vehicle with the door open.

Ulman reportedly gave the stereo and speakers he stole from the vehicle back to the victim and fled the scene, police said. The victim allegedly followed Ulman until police took over on Maiers Road and Kittleson Road.

Police reportedly found burglary tools and several stereos inside Ulman's vehicle.

Two victims from Bob's Cafe at the Inn informed police of a vehicle prowl later the same night, police said.

Police allegedly found stolen items including stereo equipment stolen from the vehicle at Bob's Cafe at the Inn inside Ulman's vehicle. Ulman allegedly confessed to stealing the equipment, police said.

Ulman allegedly confessed to several other vehicle prowls and an industrial burglary taking place during the past several days. Moses Lake Police Capt. Jim Jenkins said Ullman allegedly confessed to burglarizing the irrigation business during an interview.

Ulman was arrested on South Pioneer Way for three counts of vehicle prowl in the second degree, malicious mischief in the second degree, possession of stolen property in the second degree, two counts of burglary in the second degree, possession of burglary tools, driving with a suspended license in the third degree, possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana, no insurance and for altered license plates.

Ulman allegedly switched the license plates on his vehicle with another vehicle's license plates, Jenkins said.
