Ceremony celebrates

Lava Lite progress

SOAP LAKE — A groundbreaking ceremony for Soap Lake's Lava Lite sign structure will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.

Lava lamp coordinator Al Lundberg said the ceremony would last about 45 minutes depending on weather. Idea originator Brent Blake, Soap Lake Mayor Wayne Hovde and city council members and citizen's committee members will be present. The city will thank the community for its support and recognize those individuals working to help reach this point, Lundberg said.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the lamp's site on Canna Street with reception afterward at City Hall.
