LaVina Casassa

LaVina Casassa, 87, went home to be with the Lord peacefully, after an extended illness, at home with her family on May 17.

LaVina was born Jan. 9, 1919 in Kansas to George and Esther (Watkins) Bigham. She was the eldest of four daughters, and was raised in Oklahoma. The family moved to Selah after the depression.

LaVina and her best friend Peggy had their own beauty shop in Cle Elum for several years. She married Pete Casassa and moved to Moses Lake where she had her own beauty shop for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Pete and one sister, Margie. She leaves behind her son Terry Moore and his wife Marilyn, grandchildren Dan and Susie, two sisters Ruby Houser, Winona Wiles, three nephews and a few that were like family to her.

LaVina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a very hard worker, an excellent seamstress and did all kinds of needlework. She enjoyed reading, bowling, gardening, canning and many things but her greatest joy was family and a few close friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 22 in Laurel Hill Memorial Park, Cle Elum.
