Beth Mae Suko
Beth Mae Suko, age 80, longtime resident of Moses Lake, died at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation on Friday, April 28, in her sleep.
Beth was born Oct. 22, 1925 in the town of Point Neches, Texas, to the late Wilburn and Maude Fisher. She graduated from Point Neches High School in 1943. She married George B. Murphy in 1944 while he was serving the U.S. Army Air Corp as a P-38 Lockheed Lighting pilot during WWII.
In 1963, Beth and George moved to Moses Lake, where she worked for the Golf and Country Club for several years prior to her retirement in 1974. Widowed, she married Emil Suko, a wheat farmer, in 1975 and they lived at 238 Crestview Drive until Emil's death in 1986. Beth then shared a residence with longtime friend John Moberg at 931 S. Ironwood until his passing this year. Beth moved into Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation after suffering a broken hip from a fall in February of this year.
Beth is survived by her three sons, Dan and wife Pat Murphy of Castle Rock; Mike Murphy of Phoenix, Ariz., and George (Bernie) and wife Sarah Murphy, George currently serving in Afghanistan and Sarah of Watertown, N.Y. Her son Peter Murphy died in 1999. Also surviving are her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Shawn, Alexandra and Dylan Murphy of Seattle; Nicole, Erika and Brett Murphy of Spokane and Merideth and Colin Murphy of Castle Rock.
By request, no memorial services were held. Beth donated herself to Washington State University for present and future medical research.
Beth Mae Suko led a full and rewarding life. Family members traveled from all parts of the world to hold a reunion in order to say good-bye in a fashion that she would have liked. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Our family would like to give a special thanks to her friend Justin Moberg, who helped her over the years and to Sue Gerber, her lifelong friend who was at her side during the good times and the bad. Beth will be missed by all.
