COLUMBIA BASIN— This Saturday the National Association of Letter Carriers will be holding their 14th annual nationwide NALC National Food Drive, which is the largest one-day food drive in the country.

With the assistance of rural carriers, other postal employees and volunteers, last year's food drive netted over 71 million pounds of food nationwide for a total of over 695 million pounds over the past 13 years. Columbia Basin letter carriers will join in this year's efforts and are asking residents to donate non-perishable food items in, on or near mailboxes before carriers arrive Saturday.

Carriers will deliver donations to the local food bank in Moses Lake, or you can drop off your donations at the drive up collection boxes outside in the post office parking lot in the alley from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. This year's goal is to beat last year's total of 7,500 pounds of food collected locally.
