A.D. "Woody" Woodworth
A.D. "Woody" Woodworth passed away on May 4, 2006 at his home. He was born on March 17, 1920 in Cochranton, Pa. to Alton and Barbara Woodworth.
From there he graduated high school and entered into the military. During World War II he was assigned to the British 8th air support group. After the war, Woody worked at Hanford as a fireman, where he met his wife, Lillian, and married her on Aug. 17, 1949. They soon moved to Moses Lake where he became a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service and also farmed in Block 40. In his high school yearbook Woody wrote that his ambition was to become an aviator, but said, "I will probably end up doing a tailspin behind a plow." He farmed for over 40 years and retired after 30 years from the Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife Lillian of Moses Lake; his sister Ethel of Lakeland, Fla.; his brother Lyle of Evans; sons Dwane of Kennewick and Tim of Moses Lake; daughter Peg of Moses Lake; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Block 40 Community Club in Moses Lake.
