Pieces of the past

| May 3, 2006 9:00 PM

A mural depicting the life of longtime Moses Lake resident Monte Holm is erected in Sinkiuse Square on the side of the post office building Tuesday morning. Artist Patricia Jensen, center, helps position the final piece into place with the help of Dale Good and volunteers from Homesley Construction and Colbasia Cabinets. Vern Hellewell operated the crane.

Further installations are planned in the next week, with a large frame to be positioned around the mural and landscaping that includes a railroad segment to be placed under the mural.

Jensen, right, adds a few finishing touches to the mural Tuesday morning.

The $10,000 project was funded through community donations, including major contributions by Rotary and the Moses Lake Business Association.

A dedication ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. May 13, Holm's 90th birthday.
