Zella Leone Simpson

| March 29, 2006 8:00 PM

Our loving wife, mother and devoted grandmother went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 22, 2006.

She was born on August 9, 1932 in Vilas, Colo. to Zealous and Georgia Farwell. When she was a young child her parents moved her and her five brothers and sisters to Parma, Idaho.

On March 2, 1957 Zella married Daniel E. Simpson and together they made a home in Othello, where she lived until her death.

Zella was an active member of First Baptist Church in Othello. She was a Sunday school teacher, was elected to the positions of Church Treasurer and Financial Secretary and eventually worked as the church secretary for several years.

Her passion was her nine grandchildren. Her greatest joy and their fondest memories were of spending time at grandma's house and playing Nintendo and Monopoly. She had a loving gift of making each grandchild feel that they were her favorite. She enjoyed reading and loved playing practical jokes on her family and closest friends. She was an AVID Seattle Mariners fan and didn't miss a televised game. She and her husband enjoyed many trips to Texas, Kansas and Tennessee to visit family and friends. They especially enjoyed their annual anniversary trips to the Oregon Coast.

She is survived by her husband Dan; son James and his wife Connie; three daughters: Danette and her husband Time, Becky and her husband Ron and Valerie and her husband Jack; nine grandchildren: Ron, Jake, Leslie, Jessica, Jeff, Kane, Alyssa, Cole and Nicole; three brothers: Zephyr Farwell and his wife Jean, Ruel Farwell, Clyde Farwell and his wife Virginia; and two sisters, Margaret Sopher and Lucille Huggins.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, March 31 at 11 a.m. It will be held at First Baptist Church, Othello. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. It was her dream to see the completion of the church upgrades and renovations.
