Chiefs fall to Ike free kick
Moses Lake battles, vicitimized by Ike
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake took to the pitch against Eisenhower Saturday and fell victim to a free kick in stoppage time to lose 2-1.
The Cadets ended the Chiefs' hopes for an overtime or penalty kicks to decide the game after scoring on a free kick with 30 seconds left in stoppage time.
"It's disappointing. We hoped for overtime or a shoot out," said head coach Bill Bertram. "You can't defend one of the finest free kicks I have ever seen."
The Chiefs took 12 minutes and two shots on goal from Ike to begin attacking the Cadet's goal in the first half of play.
Moses Lake's first shot on goal came off the boot of Kevin Cervantes at 28:14 and was followed two minutes later by a shot from Alec Robillard.
The Chiefs continued to pressure the Eisenhower defense with a shot on goal by Seth Bruneel.
At 23:44 Moses Lake's Mick Aney found the back of the net on a penalty kick to put the Chiefs up 1-0.
After a nine minute drought in shooting, the Cadets took shots on goal at 14, 13 and 11 minutes.
Richie Ramirez earned two keeper saves as the half came to close to keep Ike scoreless going into the locker room.
Eisenhower evened the score at 37:15 in the second half.
Both teams continued to work through the second half with Moses Lake taking two more shots on Ike's goal before the game ended.
