Charles Troy Collie

Charles Troy Collie, 73, of Ephrata, WA, died Feb. 17, 2006, in Moses Lake of complications from colon cancer surgery.He was born Nov. 28, 1932, to William Louis Collie, Sr. and Ruby Allen Collie in McAlester, Oklahoma.

He graduated from Ceres High School, Ceres, California, in 1950. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Renton Union Local No. 1797; the Seattle Musicians Association Local No. 76-493; and, a Washington State University Field Extension volunteer.

He was a Superintendent for the Howard S. Wright Construction Company, Seattle, for 25 years. In addition to share cropping as a boy in Oklahoma and California, and growing tomatoes in his garden as an adult, he was an acoustic guitar picker for most of his life.

His greatest joy was hugging his kids, holding the grandchildren in his lap, and telling a plethora of stories to any willing listener.

He is survived by his children Cynthia Collie Colombi (Jack) of Renton; Michael A. Collie (Patricia) of Sumner; Larry Johnson of Bonney Lake; Eric Johnson (Karin) of Tacoma; Charlotte Collie of Ephrata; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Lorraine Neumann Collie of Ephrata; his parents; a sister, Lois Collie Spurlock (Jay Sr.) of Maple Valley; and a brother, William (Billy) Louis Collie, Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, March 18, 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1032 Edmonds Avenue N.E., Renton. Arrangements are under the direction of The Neptune Society. The family suggests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society or Renton Carpenters Local 1797 Relief Fund.
