Mike McCurry
1966 - 2006
Our beloved Mike McCurry passed away in Moses Lake on February 27, 2006. His death was a result of a heroic act of compassion as he was trying to save his friend's dog from drowning in Moses Lake.
Mike was 39 years old, four days shy of his 40th birthday. Mike was born in Colorado Springs on March 3, 1966. He served 20 years with honor in the United States Navy Seabees. Retiring August 2004 as a Chief Petty Officer. Mike relocated to Moses Lake in July of 2005, with his family to work with his best friend Darrin Hittinger of Hittco Builders.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Teri, his son Ryan, his daughter Jennifer, and his faithful boxer Heidi. Mike is also survived by his father Clay McCurry and his wife Betty, siblings Pete, Chuck, Jan, Skeeter, Debbie, Dikki, DeAnn, and his Baby Sister Charlie, along with their spouses and numerous children whom all loved Uncle Mike.
Also survived by his in-laws Frank and Donna Fitch of Port Orchard, Eldo and Chris Camandona of Puyallup, sister in law Deanna & Steve Geier and family of Bremerton; Brother-in-law Rob and Maureen Camandona of Bellingham, Brother-in-law Michael & Gina Fitch and family of New Orleans.
Mike is also survived by his very best friend Darrin Hittinger whom Mike loved as if Darrin were his brother. He left behind an enormous community of extended family and friends who loved him.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother Norma and his brother Sam.
An avid fisherman and hunter, and bull rider, Mike had a lifelong passion for adventure and the outdoors.
Those who knew him will remember Mike's easy good nature and the warmth of his laughter, his integrity, and his strength. They will remember the zeal for living he demonstrated on the job, on the dance floor or riding bulls, and through the love he shared with his family and friends.
Mike will be missed by many whom he loved each and everyone of you.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held at Kayser's Chapel of Memories, Saturday March 4, 2006, at 10:00 AM. Public viewing will be held from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.
