"PUBLIC NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION INTENT"

The Washington State Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 98, Wenatchee, WA 98807, is seeking coverage under the Washington State Department of Ecology's NPDES General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Construction Activities. The proposed 90 acre project, "Pioneer Way to Stratford Road", is located on SR 17 from milepost 51.93 to 55.03, in the vicinity of Moses Lake, WA. Approximately 70 acres will be disturbed to add two additional lanes in this area.

Work on this project includes widening for additional lanes, stream relocation, wetland fill, bridge widening, noise wall installation, illumination, stormwater detention facilities, removal of two existing buildings, utility relocations, and vegetation re-establishment.

Stormwater discharge will flow into roadside ditches and detention ponds. Any stormwater from the north end of the project that does not infiltrate will drain into Moses Lake through roadside ditches and rock dissipater pads.

Any person desiring to present their views to the Department of Ecology concerning this application may notify the Department of Ecology in writing within 30 days of the last date of publication of this notice (6/30/06). Comments may be submitted to:
