PUD hires new human resources director

New director coming from national post

EPHRATA — The Grant County Public Utility District announced Monday that senior management has hired Michael Woywod as the new director of human resources and support services.

"Michael was a natural candidate for the position," said Joe Lukas, the district's assistant general manager. "He has a vast array of experience that will greatly benefit the utility. In his new position, Michael will help to further support the goals and objectives defined in the district's strategic plan."

Woywod oversees several areas of the district's operations in his new position, including: human resources, public affairs, facilities, procurement, warehousing, transportation and safety.

The director of human resources and support services post has been vacant since March when Larry Jones left the position.

Woywod brings to the district more than 20 years experience managing similar areas of responsibility.

Most recently, Woywod served as the director of facilities and material management at the National Archives and Records Administration.

"I'm extremely excited about the opportunity to come to Grant County," said Woywod, who will be moving from Virginia. "I look forward to the challenges presented and the opportunities to learn."

He has held a number of senior management positions with different organizations, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the U.S. military.

Woywod will be moving to Grant County with his wife Cher and begin working at the district on July 28.
