Brooks to talk branding Thursday

MOSES LAKE — The man looking to lure tourists to Moses Lake wants to speak to its citizens about his own experiences in the Columbia Basin.

Development expert Roger Brooks will give a presentation to the city June 22, offering officials his suggestions on how to bring more spending to the area.

The city of Moses Lake and Moses Lake Business Association are hosting Brooks during the event, the first public meeting for Brooks since he signed a development agreement with the city earlier this year.

The city council approved an agreement in March for Brooks' Destination Development to create an overall business plan, including marketing and branding proposals, designed to turn the city into a destination hot spot.

Brooks came to Moses Lake on a secret shopping visit recently and will speak about his own first impressions and experiences in Moses Lake. He is presenting a photographic look at Moses Lake through the eyes of visitors, describing everything from the ease of getting around to the local attitude of residents to how the area stacks up against competition.

Brooks will be presenting his findings from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the second floor conference room of the SkillSource building on 102 E. Third Avenue. Visitors are asked to use the Division Street entrance of the building.

All businesses, public officials, local organizations and residents are encouraged to attend the gathering. Refreshments will be served.
