Elizabeth Frances (Gildow) Roberts
Elizabeth Frances (Gildow) Roberts, 87, of Quincy died Friday, June 2, 2006 at Summer Wood Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Moses Lake.
She was born on Aug. 23, 1918 to Melvin and Anna (Guler) Gildow in Salem, Ore.
She attended school in Salem and completed her education at the Oregon School of Beauty Culture in September 1938.
On March 11, 1940 she married Laurence Dean Roberts. They began their life together and started their family, dairying in Aumsville, Ore.
Through the GI drawing they purchased a farm in Quincy and moved to Washington in 1954. Frances loved gardening and preserving what she grew, and was an excellent cook. She worked as a beautician for several years for Ned Thompson, remaining friends through the years. She worked as a lab technician for potato processors in both Quincy and Warden until her retirement.
She and Dean were especially proud of the apple orchard they planted on the outskirts of Quincy in 1970.
Frances is survived by her two sons, Ronald Dean Roberts of Airway Heights and Melvin Laurence Roberts of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Bernice Ann Williams of Quincy; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, numerous step-children and step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003 and a brother.
Special thanks for the loving care Frances received from the caregivers and nurses at Summer Wood during her final days.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 9 at the Church of the Nazarene, 609 Central Ave. North, Quincy, with Pastor John Becknell officiating, concluding services and interment will follow in the Quincy Valley Cemetery.
