Bud, the son of Lyman William and Marion Agnes Murdock, was born in Gladstone, Ore., July 12, 1927. He grew up in Sherwood, Ore., where he would meet and marry his future bride, Carol Ann Hill. Bud graduated from Sherwood High School in 1945, and went on to serve in the US Army during World War II. After leaving the service, Bud worked for a number of years in the forestry industry in the Portland, Ore., area.
Bud and Carol were married Aug. 5, 1950 in Sherwood where their first child, Lyman Charles "Chuck" Murdock was born. Bud moved with Carol and Chuck to Warden in 1954 where they worked together to build a new home and life in the newly settled farming community. Bud worked in the agricultural industry for the majority of his life. In addition to establishing and managing the family farm in Warden, he also worked for Simplot Soilbuilders, custom applying fertilizer for farmers in the Central Washington area.
Family, church and community were extremely important to Bud, qualities and traditions which he worked to pass along to his family. He was active in 4-H as a leader, in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a minister and in the Warden athletic program as a scorekeeper. He was very involved in the local farming community and was usually in attendance at any activity involving his family. He especially enjoyed camping and fishing trips, hunting, rodeos, the Mariners and Seahawks, old gospel music and having a cup of coffee or a cool glass of Gatorade with his friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
