DON MITSURU HARA
(April 1, 1922-June 1, 2006)
Don Mitsuru Hara, 84, lifelong Moses Lake resident, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 5, 2006 at Moses Lake Convention Center, with Rinban Hoshu Matsubayashi presiding. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until noon and on Monday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.
Don was born April 1, 1922 in Tremonton Utah, son of Jisaku and Izu (Shinkawa) Hara. Don graduated from Tremonton High School and spent several years in the military. He was married to Fumi Nitta in Winnemucca, Nevada on November 27, 1951. Don farmed around the country before settling in the Columbia Basin in the early 1950's. The Hara family lived in Moses Lake and subsequently the basement house on the farm until 1975 when Don finished building their current family home. He had also built many of the cabinets and furnishings in the home. Don raised a family of seven children, farmed in Moses Lake most of his adult life, and found time to take an occasional fishing trip to the coast. He had always enjoyed watching his children's Judo and wrestling tournaments. In his later years, Don Œsupervised' his sons on the farm and entertained his grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife; Fumi Hara, Moses Lake; his sons and daughters; Karen and John Weidert, Kennewick, Don Hara, Jr., Moses Lake, Geri and Larry Gilbert, Bellingham, Doug and Tami Hara, Moses Lake, George and Lori Hara, Moses Lake, Susan and Russ Beard, Othello; daughter-in-law, Michele Hara, Moses Lake; grandchildren, Jessika Hara, Craig Weidert, Bryan & Melinda Hara, A.J. Hara, Harrison Gilbert, Sean Weidert, Samantha Hara, Hayden Hara and Nick Hara; brothers and sisters, George & Gloria Hara (Coos Bay, OR), Jenny Sugimoto (Roy UT), Jean Branstrator (Redlands, CA), Mary & Tetsu Okada (Tremonton, UT), Dick & Reiko Hara (Seattle, WA); and sisters-in-law, Kikuye Hara (Parma, ID), and Dianne Hara (Richland, WA). He was preceded in death by his parents; Jisaku and Izu Hara; son, Mark Hara, brothers; Kay and Frank Hara, and sister, Tsuyako Hara.
