Johnnie Lee McKee
Johnnie Lee McKee, 99, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Kayser's Chapel of Memories with Pastor Fred Scudder and Pastor Gene White officiating. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.
Johnnie was born Nov. 29, 1906 in Wilmot, Ark., daughter of the late William L. and Lottie (Hall) Collier. She grew up in Arkansas and graduated in 1929 from the Caddo Valley Academy in Norman, Ark. She married James L. McKee on Dec. 7, 1932 in Hamburg, Ark. They continued to live in Arkansas until the early 1940s when they moved to California, settling in the Bay area. They moved to Moses Lake in 1974 where they had lived since. James preceded her in death in 1999.
Johnnie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts and gardening, especially growing flowers. She was a real people person and deeply loved her family and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a longtime member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Moses Lake and also attended Heritage Baptist Church. She had taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her three children: Joyce Love, Moses Lake, Gerald McKee, Moses Lake and John McKee, Wenatchee; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Luther Collier and William Collier; one sister, Doris Canterberry and one granddaughter.
