Chiefs put on show for Hall of Fame inductees

MOSES LAKE — Wenatchee scored a quick two but Moses Lake grabbed the lead and never looked back Friday, winning 62-50.

The game set the stage for the Moses Lake High School Hall of Fame ceremony at halftime. The inductees were able to get a glimpse of the newest athletic crop and to have their own achievements recognized.

"We played OK," said head coach Brant Mayo. "We did enough to win."

After the Panthers put up the first bucket of the night, the Chiefs held Wenatchee scoreless for the next five minutes.

BJ Guerra scored the first points for Moses Lake with just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Quinn Baker connected with Guerra to make it 4-2 before Wenatchee snapped their scoring drought with a two to tie the game at four.

Josh Loera earned his first points of the night with a pull up jumper to give Moses Lake the lead once again early in the game.

Brad Earl extended the lead for the Chiefs with a layup with a minute left in the first quarter.

Wenatchee ended the period with a 3-point shot to make it 8-7.

Moses Lake began the second quarter with a turnover but recovered their composure with Baker finding Danny Dalton on the next trip down the floor.

Earl followed the layup with a blocked shot on the other end of the court.

Derik Lefave earned his first points of the game, sinking a baseline jump shot to make it 12-7.

Wenatchee answered with their first bucket of the second quarter at the five minute mark.

The Chiefs continued to maintain the lead as the quarter went on.

Baker scored a layup with a scoop shot and got the foul. He made his free throw to make it 20-13.

The Panthers started to close in again, making it 20-18 with a minute left in the half and tying it up at 20 on their next possession.

Mitch Roylance fouled a Wenatchee player with 25 seconds left in the period to give the Panthers a 22-20 lead.

With 10 seconds remaining, Loera drained a three to give Moses Lake the one point lead going into the locker room.

Roylance scored 15 points in the second half. Baker had 10 rebounds.
