Santiago Escamilla
Santiago Escamilla, 75, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006 at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens with Father Ricardo Villarreal officiating. Arrangements are in care of Kaysers's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.
Friends may call at the funeral home for viewing on Saturday, Jan. 14 and Monday, Jan. 16 from 8 a.m. until noon.
Santiago was born July 25, 1930 in Bishop, Texas to the late Juan A. & Guadalupe (Salinas) Escamilla. He married Bernardina DeLeon on September 26, 1954 in Raymondville, Texas where they made their home until moving to Moses Lake in 1963.
He joined the United States Marine Corps and served our country. He was honorably discharged on March 3, 1954. Bernardina passed away March 23, 1989.
Santiago enjoyed golfing, family get-togethers, barbeques, and traveling to Twin Falls, Idaho to visit his sister. He also treasured the time spent with his family.
Survivors include three sons and four daughters, Santiago Escamilla, Jr. of Ephrata, R. Abelina (George) Alvarado of Othello, Rafelita E. (Elias) Tijerina of Moses Lake, R. Arnold (Michelle) Escamilla of Moses Lake, John J. Escamilla of Moses Lake, Dorothy N. Gonzalez of Moses Lake, Laura B. (Marc) Gonzalez of Moses Lake; a sister and brother-in-law, Epifania "Fannie" & Glafiro Martinez of Twin Falls, Idaho; a very special friend, Margaret Schaden of Moses Lake; 15 grandchildren: Brigida, Jorge, Marisol, Nicanor, Estebanie, Bernardina, Rene, Alyssa, Gabriella, Bethany, Erika, Jacob, Jordan, Austin and Bryce; three great-grandchildren: Belen, Julian and Gabriel along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Merced Escamilla, and three grandchildren: Rachel, Bryanna and Benjamin Escamilla.
