Pair arrested on suspicion of causing $300,000 in damage

HARTLINE —Two teens were arrested this week in connection with the vandalism and theft at Almira/Coulee-Hartline School in November.

Grant County Sheriff's detectives arrested the two 17-year-old boys for the Nov. 26 incident, in which the school suffered close to $300,000 in water and theft damage.

According to a sheriff's office news release, the two are alleged to have broken into the school over Thanksgiving break and turned on fire hoses during a burglary. A computer room was reportedly ransacked, and several items including cameras and laptops were stolen. The sheriff's office said many of the stolen items have since been recovered.

Detectives arrested the two boys following the recovery of some of the stolen property during warrant searches of several residences. They were booked into the Grant County Juvenile Detention Center for felony burglary and malicious mischief.
