Just as quietly as he journeyed through life, our son and brother, Daniel John Delgado left to be with his heavenly father on Monday, Jan. 9. Daniel was born on November 16, 1965 and was brought home to Royal City by his parents Joe and Elvita Delgado where he joined his brothers, Joseph and Michael, and his sister, Christina. Daniel was raised in the Royal City area and graduated from Royal City High School.

Daniel enjoyed working on the family farm and being a part of the greater farming community. When his health later prevented him from working outside, he returned to school at Big Bend Community College and later pursued and earned a degree in accounting from Central Washington University.

We will all remember Daniel most for his gentle nature and generous spirit. Daniel logged many miles behind the wheel of his pickup while visiting friends and family. He never arrived empty handed, but instead taught us to share in God's bounty as he was continually delivering whatever was in season; potatoes, onions, cherries, sweet corn, watermelon, etcetera.

Daniel will be greatly missed by not only his immediate family but also by his large extended family. We all were fortunate enough to be witness to his courage as he faced each day with a body that could not keep up. It wasn't often that Daniel would complain about the complications caused by his diabetes, instead it was more likely that you would see his eyes close and his shoulders shake with silent laughter as if to remind us that while his body was broken his spirit was not.

The memory of Daniel is survived by his parents, Joe and Elvita Delgado, of Royal City, his brothers, Joseph Delgado, of Seattle, and Michael Delgado, of Yakima, his sister, Christina Delgado, of Newport Beach, Calif. and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Carmen Delgado, maternal grandparents, Luiz and Frances Ruiz, and uncles, Simon and Pete Delgado.
