Arline B. Dietrich

| January 12, 2006 8:00 PM

Arline Dietrich aged 75, died peacefully at Dominican Hospital on Jan. 10, in Santa Cruz, Calif. with her family at her side.

The youngest of five children, she was preceded in death by her parents Henry Hessler and Katherine Schnell Hessler, as well as her two brothers Ruben Emmert.

She is survived by her loving husband Don, daughter Deena and sisters Ella Pester and Millie Aschenbrenner, both of San Antonio, Texas.

Arline was born in Scottsbluff, Neb. in 1930 and was married there in 1949. She was raised in Nebraska and moved to Moses Lake in the early 1950s with her husband Don and daughter Deena, where she worked as a dental assistant and then later in real estate. In 1968 she moved with her family to San Jose, Calif. and later to Aptos, where she was co-owner and broker for Aptos Associates Realtors until she retired.

Arline's favorite pastime was cruising the U.S. in the family motorhome. She was a great cook and hostess, and was good at whatever she set her mind to. During the course of the past nine months her emphysema kept her pretty much housebound. With assistance from hospice, she was able to remain at home until her fall a week ago when she broke her hip and shoulder. These complications, in addition to her emphysema, were too much for her frail body.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation be made to hospice, an organization providing wonderful care to families dealing with terminal illness. Donations can be sent to Hospice Caring Project in memory of Arline Dietrich, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
