Warden wrestlers win two

WARDEN — The Cougars won five matches by pin and picked up five more victories by forfeit as they defeated Wahluke 58-18 in a SCAC league competition Tuesday.

Freddie Flores (119 lbs.), Arturo Martinez (145 lbs.), Jose Velez (160 lbs.), Drew Jesse (189 lbs.) and Taggert Cole (275 lbs.) all won by fall for Warden. Josh Reyes defeated Octavio Ramierez 10-6 at 112 pounds in the only match to go the full six minutes.

Warden easily defeated a Columbia-Burbank team that fielded only five wrestlers. Warden won the meet 60-13 after receiving nine forfeits and winning two other matches.

Freddie Guitterez pinned Columbia-Burbank's Cameron Homer in the first round of the 215 pound match. Tony Martinez earned a third period pin in the 275 pound division.

This past weekend, Warden hosted the Jeremiah Schmunk Invitational. Warden finished first in the tournament and "Team 2", a mixed team featuring many Warden wrestlers, finished second.
