Chiefs take third in weekend Classic

SPOKANE VALLEY — Moses Lake High School wrestled at University High School Friday and Saturday in the Pacific Northwest Classic, taking third out of 16 participating teams with a score of 154.5.

Team results included: 1 - University High School 172.5; 2 - Lakeside High School 156.5; 4 - Central Valley High School 144.5; 5 - East Valley High School 141; 6 - Othello High School 109; 7 - Wenatchee High School 104; 10 - Southridge High School 89; 13 - Richland High School 73.

"The kids wrestled really well," said head coach Jamie Wise. "We had 19 pins as a team. The extra pin points are what gave us the third place finish."

Individual results for Moses Lake included: 2 - Roberto Cruz 103; 3 - John Fackrell 189; 3 - Brett Fredrickson 215; 4 - Sean Hoiness 130; 4 - Mike Wentworth 275; 4 - Thomas Courtright 152; 5 - Cody Hoiness 135; 5 - Jordan Hill 130; 5 - Trevor Cole 145; 6 - Tyler Vela 103; 6 - Stevie Vasquez 189.

"We had a couple of standout, super close matches," said Wise. "John battled all the way back to third after losing his first match."

Individual results for Othello included: 1 - Freddie Flores 145; 4 - Mat Garza 119; 4 - Don Cantu 125; 4 - Phillip Ontiveros 140; 5 - Derek Stelter 112; 5 - Michael Carmona 275.
