Tigers defeat Lind-Ritzville in memorial game

MOSES LAKE — Odessa came out shooting against the Broncos and took home a 52-46 win in Tuesday's Ryan Floch Memorial Basketball Game at Big Bend Community College.

"This win is big for the kids. It's big for the community," said head coach Larry Moffett. "The kids remember Ryan and Drew. Ryan and Drew helped them out."

With four minutes left in the game, Lind-Ritzville closed the gap to four points with a three from Cameron Stevenson.

The four point margin never got any closer as Odessa battled for the win Tuesday.

Drake Costlow answered Stevenson's three with a layup and pushed the lead to six. Costlow scored again a minute later, driving the lane and maintaining the 6-point lead for Odessa.

"Costlow played great for us," Moffett said. "He hit some big shots in the match-up zone they were playing."

David Johnson pushed the lead to 50-41, with a bucket and foul, before Lind-Ritzville could answer.

Stevenson scored for the Broncos with a three from way outside and Tyler Bruegeman scored the last points of the game for Lind-Ritzville with a layup at the buzzer.

The Broncos won the tip-off to start the game but fell behind 6-3 in the opening minutes.

Odessa took a 12-7 lead after two consecutive threes from Costlow.

Lind-Ritzville answered by going on a 9-0 scoring run to end the first quarter up 16-12.

The woes continued for Odessa as the second quarter began.

The Tigers turned the ball over and Kendall Fisher shot 0 for 2 from the line after being fouled by Stevenson.

Travis Todd ended the drought for Odessa with a mid-range jumper, making the score 18-14.

James Glenn earned the Tigers a tie at 20 with a long two followed by a steal and layup.

"Glenn was starting in place of (Adrian) Moffett who's injured," said Moffett. "He did a good job."

Then Lind-Ritzville was called for a travel and Odessa took their first lead since the opening minute with a 3-point shot from Costlow.

Costlow extended the lead to 27-20 with another three with just over one minute left in the half.

Myles Borth scored the last points of the half for Lind-Ritzville with a put-back.

Odessa went in at the half up 27-22.

James Saetre opened the second half with a 2-point jumper for the Broncos before he was answered by Travis Iksic and Glenn who had a long jumper and a drive respectively.

Stevenson kept it close for Lind-Ritzville shooting 2 of 2 during his first trip to the line in the second half and following it with a steal and score to make it 31-28.

Johnson pushed the lead back to five for Odessa with a put-back.

Stevenson continued to lead Lind-Ritzville and pulled his team within one after draining a three with three minutes left in the third quarter.

With one minute remaining in the third, Borth fouled Todd who sank both shots from the line for Odessa and made it 39-36.

Odessa dominated the beginning of the fourth quarter to help finish out the game for a win.

Costlow led Odessa with 19 points. Glenn had 12 points for Odessa.

"Any time you win, you've got to be happy," said Moffett.
