Dorothy Phillips
Dorothy Phillips, age 73, passed away at her home Dec. 23.
She was recently preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Floyd Phillips. She is survived by two brothers, Don and Harold Raugust of Walla Walla. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ken Haugen of Moses Lake, her son Clayton Phillips of Lynwood, her son Patrick Phillips of Moses Lake and her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Alexe Phillips of Spokane. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Dorothy was born in Odessa on Aug. 1, 1932 and moved to Milton-Freewater, Ore. as a young child. Meeting her first childhood friend Connie Nixon at the age of 5 years-old, she continued this close "sister-like" friendship throughout the years. Living in a small community kept family, friends and her devotion to her church closest to her heart.
She worked in the local fruit packing and canneries, but enjoyed most her position as a switchboard telephone operator for Pacific Northwest Bell. Moving to Moses Lake with her husband and family in 1967, she worked in the local processing plants and retired after 25 years of service to Sunspiced, Inc.
She was one of the most loving, caring and unselfish women you could ever meet. This legacy of love and devotion to her family will continue to be passed from generation to generation. She always strived for peace and harmony among her family and friends, and often was our "bridge over troubled waters." Everyone meeting her along her path in life would comment that she was one of the sweetest people they had ever known. She takes with her all of our love and respect and leaves behind family and friends greatly enriched by having known her.
Services in her memory will be held at the Pioneer Memorial Gardens, Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m.
