Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Madelyn was born June 9, 1923 in Seattle, daughter of the late Clarence Melvin and Josephine Mary (Pedro) Thomas. She was raised and educated in Seattle, graduating from high school. During World War II she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Boeing Aircraft Company. While there she met George Turner, and they were later married on August 8,1942 in Seattle. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Her husband served in the Army during WWII. They continued to live in Seattle until 1952 where they owned and operated a Hallmark Card Store. In 1953 they moved to Moses Lake and settled on their farm in Block 40.

In 1979, when they retired from the day-to-day activities of their farm operations, they moved their residence to South Lakeway Drive.

While raising her three sons and partnering the family business, Madelyn was active in community and church activities. She enjoyed her memberships and activities in the Block 40 Gloydettes, Women Involved in Farm Economics (WIFE), the Alfalfa Seed Growers Association, the Washington State Farm Bureau, and various local planning commisions. Madelyn was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and centered her family life around her church commitments.

As the family grew, she enjoyed traveling around the country and abroad to be with them and to watch her flock of grandchildren and greatchildren flourish. Every day she looked forward to phone calls, visits, and the latest news of their activities. Her travels abroad included trips through Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Morroco and Malaysia.

Over the years, and especially since the passing in 1998 of her husband, George, she gratefully appreciate the contact and support of a multitude of friends and relatives.

Madelyn is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jane Turner of Springfield, Va.; James and Dianne Turner of Moses Lake and Donald and Kathryn Turner of Moses Lake; and 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
