Chiefs too much for Kennewick, Kamiakin

KENNEWICK — Nine Moses Lake wrestlers swept their competition in Tuesday's dominance over Kennewick and Kamiakin.

The Chiefs took on the Lions first and took advantage of four forfeits, winning 58-15.

Gabe Guzman, Matt Palmer, Thomas Pfiffer and Josh Neilsen were all given forfeits for their respective matches against Kennewick.

David Peralez won a 12-4 major decision over Steven Moreno in the 112-pound weight class. His performance was followed by back-to-back pins for the Chiefs.

At 119 pounds, Tyler Vela pinned Matt Morris in 1:34 and at 135 pounds Jordan Hill pinned Jason Whitehead in 49 seconds. Moses Lake earned two other pins in the dual — Andrew Neilsen wrestling at 215 pounds earned the first against Corey Fleetwod in 24 seconds and Tad Harman had the other in 1:38 against Josh Garvin in the 285-pound weight class.

John Silva won an 8-3 decision over Garrett Woods in the 145-pound weight class and at 152 pounds, Johnny Hernandez defeated Jack Loomis 12-6.

Nico Vela, Justin West and Spencer Fackrell lost their first bouts of the night.

After dispensing with Kennewick, Moses Lake moved on to a 67-10 victory over the Braves.

At 103 pounds, Nico Vela pinned Justin Yolk at 5:09. It was the first of eight pins for the Chiefs. Tyler Vela pinned Jared Cossman in 3:53 and had his win followed up by a pin by Palmer in the 130-pound bout. Palmer defeated Matt Cooley in one minute.

Silva pinned Benson Locker at 1:01 and then his teammate, Josh Nielsen, pinned Matt Perkins at 1:59.

Fackrell came back from his loss earlier in the night with a pin in 18 seconds against JC Dpaquier at 189 pounds. Andrew Neilsen then pinned Alex Arent in 3:20 and Harman rounded out the pinning of the Braves, sticking Justin Strong in 1:03.

Peralez won a 13-11 decision over S. Garcia. Guzman earned a 15-0 technical fall against McAloon and Hill recorded a 19-1 technical fall to defeat Bruce Pierson.

West won his bout via forfeit.

Pfiffer and Colton Messer lost their respective bouts.
