Chiefs' Fackrell wins at Inland Empire

Chiefs fourth at Inland Empire

VERADALE — Moses Lake, led by 189-pound champion John Fackrell, finished fourth at the Inland Empire Wrestling Tournament at Central Valley High School. The Chiefs, with 143.5 points, finished just 3.5 points behind host Central Valley. Hermiston (Oregon) won the tournament with 220.5 points, while Couer d'Alene (Idaho) was second with 167.5.

Fackrell dominated the 189-pound weight class, pinning all four of his opponents on the way to the title. Brett Frederickson wrestled his way into the 215 pound finals, but had to settle for second place after an injury forced him to withdraw from the match.

Gabe Guzman at 125 pounds and Jordan Hill at 135 pounds each rallied for third-place finishes after losing their semifinal matches to the eventual tournament champions.
