Betty L. Geer

Longtime Moses Lake resident Betty L. (Hamman) Geer passed away Aug. 24, 2006 at Samaritan Hospital. She was 83 years old.

She was born in 1923 in Plentywood, Mont., to Floren and Muriel Hamman. She graduated high school in Polson , Mont., then worked at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind. She also worked at the Spokesman Review in Spokane.

Betty is survived by her sister Bonnie Hintzman of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, David Geer of Moses Lake and Jeff Geer of Boise, Idaho; daughter Linda Geer and husband James (Mark) of Walla Walla; grandchildren Amy Geer Delp and Ellese Sharp of Moses Lake, Krysten James and Brian James of Walla Walla, Jenny Jo Geer, Ethan Geer and Rachel Geer of Boise, Idaho; great-grandson David Geer of Moses Lake; and many caring friends.

Betty was employed by the Columbia Basin Herald in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She helped run the family farm in Mae Valley and worked as an elementary school secretary at Longview School. She retired in 1983 and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.

She published a book of humorous stories of her life, called "Shifting of the Geer's." At Betty's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice in Betty's name.
