Loren W. Bader

Loren W. Bader, 90, Moses Lake resident and former longtime Soap Lake resident, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006 At Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake with full military honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard Team. Pastor Mark Bassett will officiate.

Loren was born in Peotone, Ill., on Feb. 3, 1916 to Lula Belle and Myrlen Bader. He was raised in Oregon until he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served eight years in the Navy, as well as twelve years in the United States Air Force before retiring from the military.

He met Jean Brown, his wife of 68 years, in El Centro, Calif., and they were married in Yuma, Ariz. They later made their home near Troutsdale, Ore., where they owned and operated a fruit orchard. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and retired in 1961 from Larsen Air Force Base in Moses Lake. He and his family owned and operated a cattle and hay farm on Dodson Road, outside of Ephrata. After raising their children, they lived in the Moses Lake, Ephrata and Soap Lake areas, while spending their winters in Southern California.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Susan Bader; a nephew Mitchell Gordon; sisters Manzanita Flory and LacaBelle Gordon; and his great-grandson Aidan Moberg.

He is survived by his wife Jean of Moses Lake; son Richard Bader and wife Marilyn of Hilo, Hawaii; daughter Janet Moberg and husband Michael of Moses Lake; daughter Leslie Robinson and husband David of Soap Lake; grandson Jake Finke and wife Jeanne of Ephrata; granddaughter Lisa Harrington and husband Kevin of Moses Lake; granddaughter Jamie Vanerstrom and husband Justin of Moses Lake; grandson Shaun Moberg and fiancee Callie LaVoy of Moses Lake; grandson Mathew Moberg and wife Tammy of Coleville, Calif.; and grandson Jesse Bader of Soap Lake; as well as eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pat and Shirley Chambers of Montlake Adult Family Home for all their loving care.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday morning from 8 a.m. until noon.
