Mildred "Mickie" Bonar
Mildred "Mickie" Bonar, 93, of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away on Thursday, Aug. l 7, 2006. She was born January 19, 1913 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Frank and Nora Skidmore. Mickie spent her life being a wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered as a gracious lady to any people who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mickie led a very interesting life that took her to many places and allowed her the opportunity to meet many wonderful people. Mickie spent her youth working hard on the family farm. After completing chores, she spent time playing games and entertaining her younger siblings. As a young adult, she spent time in Yellowstone Park camping, huckleberry picking, horse back riding and in the winter months time was spent sleigh riding.
On June 8, 1933, she married Harry C. Bonar in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After moving to many places, they resided in Mountain Home, Idaho, where they adopted their daughter Judy Ann in October of 1946. Her husband's work as a manager for Home Lumber and Coal Company continued to take them to various towns. In the mid 1950's, work took them to Sparks, Nev., where she continued her life passion of caring for children. While in Sparks, she became a foster parent. In 1956, they once again moved. They settled in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., where she started her own day care business. She continued to care for children when she and Harry moved to Moses Lake in the late 1970's.
Some recent activities Mickie enjoyed were going to lunch with a nice group of ladies who were affectionately known as "The Lunch Bunch", weekly visits to the Moses Lake Senior Center for lunch and socializing, weekly pampering sessions at The Hair Academy, and she also spent time refining her technology skills by communicating with her family via email. Mickie was also a lifetime member of Eastern Star and she also enjoyed spending time reading the Bible and worshipping with her Sunday morning pastors on television.
Mickie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nora, her siblings, Helen, Vivian, Ada, Amy, Frank, and Vernon, her infant son, Frank and her husband Harry. She is survived by her sisters, Mae (Guy) Bonar, Irma (Frans) Yorgensen, and Ruby (Lyle) Nielson. She is also survived by her daughter, Judy (Bob) McCubbin, granddaughter Amy (Rod) Thiesen, great-granddaughters, Claire and Elise Thiesen, as well as numerous loving family members.
Per Mickie's request, no services are planned. The family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the staff at LakeRidge Special Care Center for all of their help, love, and care in her final days. Memorials may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital or the Shriners. We will truly miss you Mrs. B., Mom, Nana, and G.G. Nana!
