NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS

Sealed bids, plainly marked "BID FOR Maple Dr. Safe Route to School Project, CRP 06-07, will be received by Grant County at the Office of the Board of County Commissioners located in the County Courthouse, P.O. Box 37, 35 C Street NW - Room 207, Ephrata, WA, 98823, until 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, August 22, 2006 and will then and there by opened and publicly read for the construction of the improvements.

All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in cash, certified check, cashier's check, or surety bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid proposal. No conditional bid bond will be accepted. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such contract and furnish a satisfactory performance bond within the time stated in the specifications, the bid proposal deposit shall be forfeited to Grant County.

Maps, plans, and specifications may be purchased from the office of the County Engineer, 124 Enterprise St. S.E., Ephrata, WA 98823, upon payment of the amount of $25.00 (non-refundable).

Informational copies of the maps, plans, and specifications are on file for inspection at the Grant County Public Works Building, 124 Enterprise St. S.E., Ephrata, WA 98823, and in various plan centers located in Washington.

The following is applicable to federal-aid projects: The Grant County Department of Public Works in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 78 Stat. 252, 42 U.S.C. 2000d to 2000d-4 and Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Transportation, subtitle A, Office of the Secretary, Part 21, non-discrimination in federally assisted programs of the Department of Transportation issued pursuant to such Act, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award.

The Board of County Commissioners of Grant County, Washington, reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The award of this contract, if made, will be to the lowest responsible bidder.

The improvement for which bids will be received follows:

Maple Dr. Safe Route to School Project (Stratford Rd. To Alma Rd.) - CRP 06-07

This contract provides for the construction of 0.44 miles of pathway in Grant County, WA, and includes roadway excavation, embankment compaction, crushed surfacing base course, maintenance rock, HMA Class 1/2", and other work in accordance with the plans and specifications.
