GRANT COUNTY — Two Wilbur teens died Saturday afternoon after their car struck another on Highway 17 north of Soap Lake.

Frank C. Meyers, 18, and 15-year-old Patrick J. Meyers were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident 13 miles north of Soap Lake.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Frank Meyers was driving a 1991 Geo Storm south on the highway at about 3 p.m. when he reportedly crossed the center line and struck a 1986 Pontiac traveling in the northbound lane.

The driver of the Pontiac, identified as 22-year-old Casey G. Pierce of Ephrata, suffered a broken tibia, broken toe and stomach bleeding in the accident. He was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.

The state patrol said the Geo came to a rest in the southbound shoulder and the Pontiac came to a rest in the northbound lane. Both cars were totaled in the accident.

Investigators found marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Pierce, and the state patrol said he would be charged with possession following the accident.

Traffic on the section of highway surrounding milepost 89 was cleared shortly after 8 p.m.
