Elsie B. Shinkle-Steen
Elsie B. Shinkle-Steen was born June 24, 1919 in Prosser and went to be with her Lord July 30 at 87.
In 1933 she married Raymond Shinkle and they moved the family to Moses Lake in 1941 where she resided until 1999. She had been in a nursing home in Spokane until her death.
She married Lloyd Steen in 1981.
She is survived by her children: Ronald Shinkle (Sharon); Klarene Moore (Jerry Wiuff); Judy Prince; Carol Vela (Clyde); daughter-in-law Lynnett Shinkle; sister-in-law Louise Smarker; three nephews; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Elvin Shinkle; her sister Ruth King-Douglas; and her two husbands.
She loved writing poetry and typing and created her own family cookbook. She attended Big Bend Community College with her daughter, Klarene Moore and granddaughter, Pamela Endicott-Pilgrim, and graduated with an associate degree. She was an avid member of the Senior Center in Moses Lake and had numerous social gatherings on her patio at her home.
She loved going to church and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church with her husband, Lloyd.
She is now residing with her heavenly father where she will have eternal peace.
Burial will be at Pioneer Memorial Gardens, Moses Lake. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 at Kayser's Chapel of Memories, Moses Lake.
