Clarice Knauss

| August 3, 2006 9:00 PM

Clarice Knauss, an amazing, loving and spiritual woman, passed away July 25 resting comfortably in her sleep.

Clarice was born in Seattle on April 3, 1921. She enjoyed growing up in rural Seattle where, in her late teens, she worked for the World War II cause by driving large trucks to the port to send out needed supplies. After the war she found her way east, to Wenatchee, where she worked as a bank teller. There she met and fell in love with her husband Reid Knauss. They were married May 4, 1947 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In 1962, due to an employment opportunity, the family moved to Moses Lake.

Clarice was an active member with the community, helping with fund raising for the Catholic Church, First Way and other organizations. She loved adventure and was a very brave woman when it came to traveling or trying new things. If asked to do something new, she was always excited and open to seeing how it went. She immensely enjoyed discovering the United State via motor home with Reid. In her free time, Clarice was often found creating beautiful dolls from scratch that she would then give to needy children or her grandchildren or playing bridge with the local lady's group. Clarice was also gifted with clothes making skills whether it was for herself, her family or her dolls.

Clarice was a woman that was continually positive and optimistic despite health issues. She taught her family and friends how important it is to love unconditionally as well as to smile in times of trouble. Because of her love and guidance she has helped many in understanding the important things in life. Her loving lessons will live on through her adoring family. Clarice will be greatly missed and her love will continue to shine through.

Clarice is survived by her children: Cory, Dustan, Stacie, Lexie and Richard; as well as many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 200 N. Dale Road, Moses Lake.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to First Way, 402 Clover Drive, Moses Lake, WA (509) 765-4425. It is a center for unwed mothers that Clarice and Reid believed strongly in.
